statement

SD Entertainment, Inc. (“SD”) is a “property launcher” and animation studio which develops, enhances and re-brands global intellectual properties.

BACKGROUND
SD is led by one of the most respected teams in animation worldwide. Former MGM Animation co-heads, Paul Sabella and Jonathan Dern, produced and directed an unprecedented body of work of numerous feature length films and hundreds of hours of television while at MGM. They helmed such productions as the television series of the Pink Panther, All Dogs Go to Heaven – the Series, Robocop: Alpha Commando, and The Lionhearts; feature length made-for-DVD releases of Tom Sawyer, Babes in Toyland and The Secret of Nimh 2: Timmy to the Rescue; and feature films including All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 and The Pebble and the Penguin.

CG ANIMATION EXPERTISE
Since forming SD Entertainment in 2000, Paul and Jonathan have produced extensively in CG animation, coupling their decades of experience in 2D animation with cutting edge technology, producing 26 episodes of Action Man for Fox, and 100 episodes of Make Way for Noddy, currently the number one preschool television series in the UK, France and other territories. SD recently completed four CG interstitials of Rufus the Naked Mole Rat for the video release of episodes of Disney Channel’s 2D Kim Possible.

PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT SKILLS
In all of SD’s work, the focus is on developing, producing and delivering compelling content. SD utilizes a three-prong process in creating a property or re-developing a property: identifying the core fantasy; dimensionalizing the characters and environments; and delivering with flexibility across multiple platforms.

SD Entertainment has worked closely with such major companies as Hasbro and Hallmark in creating entertainment to launch, sustain and build new and existing brands. SD Entertainment recently produced the entertainment packed-in with toys for Hasbro’s My Little Pony, Go-Bots, Major Powers and Tonka, as well as the feature movie Dinotopia: Quest for the Ruby Sunstone as an expansion of Hallmark’s Dinotopia franchise.

Not only is SD one of the finest animation companies in the world – it has a specialized expertise in translating commercial needs into meaningful stories, characters and fantasies. The entertainment that SD has created over the years, from Pink Panther to Action Man to My Little Pony, has resonated with audiences and supported merchandise sales. SD works closely with its partners in all aspects of the development and production to ensure that the end creative product works as great entertainment and inspires the audience to acquire the products that will enable them to participate in that fantasy.

DIGITAL ASSET/APPROVAL SYSTEM
To better support its clients and partners, SD teamed with Agenda Media to create a complete and comprehensive digital asset and production management system. This online approval tracking and monitoring system allows for collaboration on scripts, storyboards, animatics and client approvals. From pre- and post-production to work in progress, the Project Approval System enables SD to store files, handle management issues and work with their project teams on reviews, markups and approvals from around the globe.
With the Project Approval System, clients and partners can collaborate from around the world during production and then use the systematic catalog of digital assets afterwards to generate style guides, toy prototypes, publishing materials and marketing & advertising support.

CREATIVE FANTASIES, PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION
SD Entertainment works with clients and partners to deliver creative fantasies that engage audiences and build and sustain a meaningful relationship among the entertainment, the related merchandise and the consumer. SD draws on the unparalleled experience and talent of Paul, Jonathan and their team of producers and artists to guarantee the highest quality animation delivered in a professional manner.

Currently, SD has an active production and development slate of high profile theatrical and direct-to-DVD films, television series, publishing properties, interactive games and merchandising opportunities.
